Fever

Yep, my boys have been sick. We had a big celebration for Mom and Dad's 40th anniversary with lots of family and friends over the weekend, and then Sunday night Gui developed a cough and a fever. I kept him home Monday as the fever (and his energy and appetite) waxed and waned and then yesterday Pascal became feverish too. They both spent most of yesterday sleeping.

This morning Gui was up a full hour early and told me he was ready for school. It was so nice to see him looking alert and happy! So I sent him off on the bus and have been keeping my fingers crossed that he really is recovered. Pascal, on the other hand, is very much in the thick of it today - high fever, shaky, just all over miserable. I'm hoping he recovers as quickly as his big brother did, and that whatever this is it doesn't get to their little sister, who has been so far untouched.

There's this aphorism about motherhood, that to become a mother is to have your heart walking around outside of your body. Or, as the case may be, shivering with fever under a blanket while you ply it with tylenol and juice.
