Halloween

The big difference between Halloween in Louisiana and Halloween in Ontario is, of course, the cold. Fortunately the kid's first northern Halloween was not marred by rain, snow, or winds. It was actually pretty pleasant out (for a late fall night).

Our costume box is still in storage in Michigan. Fortunately my parents have kept a few costume pieces for visiting grandchildren and we were able to scrape some costumes together. Gui dressed up as a sorcerer. We decorated a witch hat with star stickers and pinned a cape on to his jacket and handed him a staff (not shown in picture: the bat Mom attached to the staff right before we left the house. It was pretty cool).

Pascal kept changing his mind about his costume, but finally settled on being a 'worker'. Here he is sitting beside his (little) pumpkin and his Uncle Ben's 'stylish' pumpkin.

Ætheline was dressed in the Bee baby bunting her Oma bought for her. It was snug and warm, and she slept through most of the trick or treating.

One last picture: a spooky shot of Gui beside his lit-up jack o'lantern.

All in all, a good night. The kids got a respectable haul in a fairly short period of time, they had fun (as did Ben, who accompanied them outfitted as a hobo and serenaded treat-givers with "Brother, Can You Spare A Dime," and we managed to be back early enough to tuck the boys in only a half hour later than usual.

Also - today was my mother's birthday. Between birthday cake and halloween candies we are well stocked up on sugar over here!
